If you are looking for halfway to paradise, Kundasang will be your perfect choice. Steve McQueen said this quote “I do rather wake up in the middle of nowhere than in any city on earth” Kundasang is a district of Ranau, Sabah that lies along the Kundasang, Sabah. It has vegetable market that opens everyday and populated by native Dusun people.


There are few places that can be explore when you travel to Kundasang. The most common place that travelers always visit is Kundasang War Memorial. Other places such as Vegetable Stalls, Desa Dairy Farm, Mount Kinabalu Golf Club and Kinabalu Pine Resort.





Kundasang War Memorial


If you don’t visit the Kundasang War Memorial, your trip to Kundasang is not complete.  This place was built in 1962 and it is one of the first memorial to honour the brave Australian and British Soldiers of War who died in Sandakan and during the infamous death marches to Ranau during World War II. The memorial also remembers the people of North Borneo who risked their lives to help the POWs.




There are four beautiful garden in this memorial place which are the Australian Garden, the English Garden, the Borneo Garden and the Contemplation Garden and Pool. Take the walk through the gardens brings you to another world.Kundasang War Memorial an ideal place to contemplate and remember the heroes of the war.

Vegetable Market  


This market is located 3.8km from Mongolian Yurt and well known for its fresh vegetables, fruits and flowers that are produced by local farmers. Besides that, you buy wild honey from here. The best part, it is open everyday!






Kinabalu Pine Resort


Kinabalu Pine Resort is the most famous resort at Kundasang, Sabah. The special about this resort is that you can view the Mount Kinabalu from the resort cabins. How amazing is that! This resort is multi-award winning and the accommodation is run privately.

Desa Dairy Farm


Desa Dairy Farm was chosen as wedding photography because of its green pastures, the scenery is mind blowing and the best part,  the cool air. This farm is located at the foothill of Mount Kinabalu. There are a lots of cattle and the view looks as though we are at New Zealand farm.




The cattles produces about 900,00 litres of milk per day! It is perfect place for family to visit here as they can do few activities such as feeding the calves with bottled milk, feed the goat with grass and also can watch how the milk is process!


You can buy the fresh milk and delicious ice-cream from Desa Dairy Farm as souvenirs.

Mount Kinabalu Golf Club

If you love to play golf, Mount Kinabalu Golf Club will be your favourite place. It is located on the Pinosuk Plateau which is about 1,500 meters above sea level in Kundasang. This golf is designed by Robert Muir Graves and the layout is the highest in Sabah.

This 18 holes course golf is quite challenging physically and mentally for golfers. They have to faced the strong breeze, fog and steep slopes.
